A new look Limelight!
This is the first issue of a new look Limelight for the Academy and its friends. Rather than the twice yearly chunky (and perhaps clunky) printed and pdf version, from now on we intend to distribute news in this online format. This will enable us to host the articles on the Academy’s website, and to respond to things in a more timely manner.
This issue contains some stories about the upcoming Academy symposium and Talking Teaching meeting that will be held at Unitec in Auckland in late November. These will be opportunities for us to discuss the need for inclusive spaces and student pastoral care that recent events have shown are so desperately needed.
The next issue will carry some news of this year’s National Tertiary Teaching Awards event: you will have seen that Ako has already announced details of the recipients. The awards ceremony will be in Parliament in Wellington on October 30.
This newsletter format is tried and tested in many institutions and organisations, so in that sense we are merely catching up. In another sense, it’s all a bit experimental, so feel free to provide feedback to the editor (see the side bar). Better still, send in stories and content for future issues!
